Tesla and EV towing in El Paso
Quick Tow EP is a referral line for drivers in the El Paso metro who need a tow for a Tesla or other EV. Call (915) 320-5573 and you're connected with an independent, separately licensed local tow operator. That operator quotes the price before any work starts, does the job, and you pay them directly. Quick Tow EP owns no trucks and sets no prices.

Tesla and EV on El Paso roads
Most EV towing calls in the El Paso metro start on the same few roads. I-10 and Loop 375 carry the commuter traffic, and the Transmountain stretch of Loop 375 is where range anxiety turns into a real stop. US-54 and Spur 601 see their share too. In summer, with a July normal high of 96.1 F, a weak 12V battery is a common reason a Tesla will not wake up. Monsoon storms from July to September can leave an EV sitting in moving water, and spring dust on I-10 cuts visibility.
Which agency handles the tow depends on where you are. Inside El Paso city limits, City Code Chapter 12.54 caps nonconsent tow fees and sets rules for crash scenes. Outside the city, like Socorro, Horizon City or Fabens, Texas TDLR maximums apply unless the county sets lower ones. On the New Mexico side, Sunland Park, Santa Teresa and Chaparral follow New Mexico rules. A tow you request yourself is priced by the operator you hire. For a Tesla, tell the operator whether Transport Mode engaged and ask for a flatbed.
How the price works
For an EV tow you request yourself, the independent operator you hire quotes the price before work starts. That quote is between you and that operator. If your car is towed without your consent inside El Paso city limits, City Code 12.54 caps the tow fee at $100 for light duty, $350 for medium duty and $450 for heavy duty, plus up to $25 for dollies. A tow you call yourself is not capped.
Common questions
Can a Tesla be towed on a flatbed in El Paso?
Yes. A flatbed with all four wheels off the ground is the safe way to move a Tesla. Tesla's owner manual warns that wheel-lift towing or a flatbed with the front or rear wheels down can damage the drive unit motors, even over short distances. Tell the operator it is a Tesla and ask them to confirm a flatbed and that all four wheels will be off the ground before they start.
What should I tell the operator about my EV?
Give the make, model and year, and say clearly that it is an electric vehicle. Tell them whether it will shift out of Park and whether the 12V system is dead. For a Tesla, say whether Transport Mode engaged, because if the 12V battery is dead that mode is unavailable and the manual wheel-freeing procedure applies. Also say where you are, which road and which cross street, so the operator can find you.
My Tesla is dead in the July heat. Can a jump start avoid the tow?
Sometimes. On many Tesla models the 12V battery lives in the frunk on Model 3 and Model Y, and behind the rear seat on Model S and Model X. A 12V jump can sometimes wake the car and avoid a tow. El Paso's July normal high is 96.1 F, and heat shortens battery life, so this is a common summer call. Tell the operator the 12V is dead and ask whether a jump is possible first.
Where does my car go if it is towed by El Paso police?
The City of El Paso Municipal Vehicle Storage Facility is at 11615 Railroad Drive, El Paso, TX 79934, run by UR Vehicle Management Solutions. The phone is (915) 212-0205 and it is open 24 hours. Call first to confirm your car is there and ask about any hold. Bring a federal or state photo ID plus registration, title or insurance. Non-owners should call first for the document list. Cards carry a 1.98% fee.
Do the same fee rules apply in Sunland Park or Santa Teresa?
No. Sunland Park, Santa Teresa, Chaparral and Anthony NM are in Doña Ana County and follow the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Code and 18.3.12 NMAC, not Texas TDLR rules. No New Mexico dollar figure is published, so call the agency or lot that handled the tow for the fees and release steps. Texas city caps and TDLR maximums do not apply on that side of the line.
